Dada Thakur is a 2001 Bengali drama film directed by Haranath Chakraborty. It is based on a Telugu film named Sneham Kosam, in which Ferdous Ahmed, Victor Banerjee and Arpita Pal played in lead roles. The film revolves around the relationship between a father and his two daughters, who are separated by fate and circumstances.

Plot Summary

The film begins with Dada Thakur (Victor Banerjee), a wealthy businessman, who is waiting for his younger daughter Mita (Arpita Pal) to return from America. He has not seen her for 14 years, since she was sent away by her mother after a misunderstanding. Dada Thakur loves Mita more than anything and has kept her room as it was when she left. He also has a loyal servant named Prashant (Ferdous Ahmed), who is like a son to him.

Meanwhile, Gita (Arpita Pal), the elder daughter of Dada Thakur, arrives in Kolkata with her husband Raja (Ranjit Mallick) and their son. Gita has not seen her father since she was a child, as he disowned her for marrying Raja against his wishes. Gita wants to reunite with her father and seeks Prashant's help. Prashant agrees to help her, but warns her that Dada Thakur is only waiting for Mita and will not accept her.

Gita manages to enter Dada Thakur's house and tries to win his affection. However, Dada Thakur mistakes her for Mita and showers her with love. Gita is happy to see her father's love, but feels guilty for lying to him. She decides to tell him the truth, but Prashant stops her, fearing that it will break his heart. He tells her to wait until Mita arrives and then reveal everything.

However, things get complicated when Mita arrives in Kolkata with her boyfriend Raju (Prosenjit Chatterjee). Mita is unaware of her father's existence and thinks that he died long ago. She is shocked to learn that he is alive and wants to meet her. She agrees to meet him, but only to get his property. She also plans to kill him with Raju's help.

Will Gita be able to tell the truth to Dada Thakur? Will Mita change her mind after meeting her father? Will Dada Thakur be able to forgive his daughters and accept them? Watch the film to find out.
