I am a SALESPERSON - and damn proud of it!
Updated: Apr 8, 2022
Regardless of how good, or how needed, a product or service might be, it has to be sold. And I am proud to be that person who has to sell it.
As a salesperson, I have given more people a fuller and richer life than anyone in history. I bring drugs to the sick, arrange security for the rich, and put thousands of young people through school. The inventor who builds a better anything will starve to death if he only waits for people to knock on his door asking to buy the product. The public doesn't go around demanding these things. They have to be sold! Salespersons like me take these inventions, convince the public on what these products can do, teach customers how to use them, and then teach businessmen how to make a profit from them. The world needs people like me who can persuade as the inventor can invent.
The loaf of bread that you ate today got to your home because I made sure that a farmer's wheat got to the mill, that the mill made the wheat into flour, and that the flour was made into bread, and that the bread was delivered to your bread seller. Without me the wheels of industry will come to a grinding halt. And with that, jobs, marriages, governments, and freedom of thought will be a thing of the past.
I am a salesperson. A prospect gets value simply from interacting with me, whether or not he ever buys anything from me. Yes, that's right. The act of selling alone is valuable to this society, regardless of whether or not the outcome is a sale. Because I am not a peddler, I don't push things on people that are unwanted. I rather help people to find and solve problems.
I AM A SALESPERSON, and I am proud and grateful that as such I serve my family, my fellow man, my employer, and God.
